Biography: The notion of Collectif Taupe was conceived within the walls and corridors of the Aberdeen Cultural Center in Moncton NB by four artists: Jean-Denis Boudreau, Jennifer Bélanger, Angèle Cormier and Mario Doucette. It was not until 2003, through fibs, pranks, and unsuspected performances that Taupe finally evolved into the attention craved offspring that these four artists had always envisioned. The collective presents and executes its projects within the realm of public spaces to bring attention to their cause, create havoc, and most importantly, to publicly intervene and spark social dialogue. Their past projects include The Breakup Project, a very public break up of a fictional couple, Herman, a bush on a side of a highway gets a set of eyes, Emergency Kits, made to create a diversion in order to escape sticky or unwanted situations and Walm-Art, a process of infiltrating art within the aisle of reproduction frames in the world's biggest discount department store.

Ce n’est qu’en 2003, par une accumulation de petits mensonges et de farces, que le collectif Taupe a été formé à l’intérieur des murs du Centre culturel Aberdeen à Moncton. L’effet inattendu de quelques performances a donné l’attention souhaitée aux quatre artistes membres du collectif : Jennifer Bélanger, Jean-Denis Boudreau, Angèle Cormier et Mario Doucette. Taupe désire concevoir et présenter des projets étonnants dans des lieux inhabituels. Les projets incitent l’interaction avec le public dans le but d’encourager un dialogue tout en mettant en cause les préoccupations du collectif. Les projets antérieurs incluent The Breakup Project, le grand public est avisé de la rupture d’un couple fictif; Herman, un buisson situé près d’une autoroute est orné avec une paire de yeux; Emergency Kit, une série de trousses qui provoque des distractions dans le but d’éviter des occasions non souhaitables; Walm-Art, l’infiltration dans une grande surface mène à l’aménagement de ses reproductions d’œuvres d’art.
